JAMMU: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi on Friday visited the headquarters of the White Knight Corps, also known as XVI Corps, to review the prevailing security situation and assess operational preparedness in the region.
During the visit, Gen Dwivedi was briefed on the counter-terrorism grid and ongoing security operations. He appreciated the strong synergy and coordination among various security forces engaged in joint operations.
In a special ceremony, the Army Chief pinned a commendation disc on Majalta Station House Officer (SHO) Sub-Inspector Abdul Satar Choudhary for his exceptional role in a recent operation in the Joffer forest area of Ramnagar in Udhampur district. The operation led to the elimination of two hardcore Pakistani terrorists belonging to the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit, officials said.
The Army Chief commended the efforts of all stakeholders involved in maintaining security and stressed the importance of sustained vigilance and a people-centric approach while conducting operations in the region.
“COAS also expressed confidence in the leadership and troops of White Knight Corps in safeguarding peace and security in the region,” the Indian Army said in a post.
Sharing details on social media platform X, the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) of the Indian Army stated that the Army Chief reviewed the security scenario and lauded the effectiveness of coordinated counter-terrorism efforts by the forces on the ground.
