JAMMU: Jammu Police, South Zone, has intensified its sustained and decisive campaign against drug trafficking, achieving significant success in dismantling a deeply entrenched narcotics network operating in Rajiv Nagar, Bahu Fort, Bagh-e-Bahu and adjoining areas.
Addressing a press conference at Police Station Bahu Fort, SP South Jammu, along with SDPO East, SHO PS Bahu Fort, SHO PS Bagh-e-Bahu and ICPP Narwal, briefed the media on the extensive action taken to uproot drug peddling activities from the region.
Considering the gravity of the menace, comprehensive surveillance—both technical and human intelligence—was strengthened, and vulnerable pockets were placed under round-the-clock vigil. As a result of sustained efforts since 2025, Jammu Police has registered 27 FIRs under the NDPS Act, recovered 1.238 kg heroin and 18 kg ganja, arrested 41 accused, demolished 11 houses of drug peddlers with the assistance of civil administration, frozen three bank accounts involving ₹1.8 lakh, attached one vehicle, and seized approximately ₹25 lakh as proceeds of crime.
Highlighting a major breakthrough, SP South informed that Police Station Bahu Fort, while investigating FIR No. 265/2025 under the NDPS Act, arrested Pal Singh S/o Roshan Singh R/o Narwal Bala, a habitual offender with two previous NDPS cases. During the operation, 265 grams of heroin was recovered. Further investigation revealed financial linkages involving an advance of ₹21 lakh paid in a property transaction. Following a court-authorized search, the entire amount of ₹21 lakh has been seized as proceeds of crime.
In another case, Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu, on 14.01.2026, arrested Arun Singh @ Kana during naka checking at NHW Bravo-03, recovering 5–6 grams of heroin and a digital weighing machine, leading to the registration of FIR No. 02/2026 under the NDPS Act. Subsequent investigation exposed suspicious bank transactions, including inter-state financial linkages with accounts operating in Himachal Pradesh and Punjab.
SP South reiterated Jammu Police’s zero-tolerance policy against drug peddling, emphasizing that backward and forward linkages—particularly financial networks—are being thoroughly investigated. More recoveries and legal action are expected as investigations continue.
Jammu Police appealed to the public to extend full cooperation by sharing credible information, assisting as civil witnesses, and supporting law-enforcement efforts. The police reaffirmed that the fight against drugs can only be won through the collective efforts of all stakeholders.
