KATRA: Police have booked an unauthorised pony operator on the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) track in Katra for violating prescribed norms during routine patrolling.
Officials said that during patrol duty within the jurisdiction of Police Post Ban Ganga, a police party stopped a person near Bathing Ghat-01, Ban Ganga, who was found working as a pony operator. On questioning, he identified himself as Shabir Ahmed, son of Mohd Sadiq, a resident of Bhagani Rawat, tehsil Bhalwal, district Jammu.
During verification, the individual failed to produce a valid registered service or pony card and admitted that he was operating without authorisation, assuming he would not be checked. By working as a pony operator on the SMVD track without registration, he violated the notification issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Katra.
Accordingly, FIR No. 04/2026 under Section 223(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered at Police Station Katra, and further investigation is underway.
