KATHUA: Kathua Police, under the overall supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua Mohita Sharma, IPS, conducted an Anti-Fidayeen and Hostage Situation mock drill at Police Stations Hiranagar and Rajbagh to enhance operational preparedness.
The exercise was jointly carried out by the Special Operations Group (SOG) Kathua, police personnel of both police stations and National Security Guard (NSG) commandos. During the drill, the NSG team briefed and demonstrated tactical procedures for neutralising terrorists during a fidayeen attack, safe rescue of hostages in crisis situations, and methods for defusing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
After the culmination of the exercise, an NSG officer conducted a detailed debriefing of police and SOG teams, highlighting operational strengths and areas for improvement.
The mock drill aimed at increasing readiness, agility and response capability of police personnel to effectively handle any potential fidayeen attack or hostage-like situation targeting police establishments.
The exercise was conducted under the close supervision of SP (Operations) Kathua Shri Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, and was coordinated by SDPO Border Shri Dheeraj Katoch, along with DySP Operations Pushpa Rajput, SHO Rajbagh and SHO Hiranagar.
Prior to the drill, police personnel were briefed on tactical aspects such as the use of dominating heights, deployment of heavy firepower and the functioning of alarm systems installed at police establishments. Personnel were also directed to remain in a constant state of alertness, fully equipped with arms and ammunition, to ensure swift and effective response to any hostile threat.
Kathua Police reiterated its unwavering commitment to countering hostile activities emanating from across the border and ensuring the safety and security of the residents of the district.
