SRINAGAR: Baramulla Police have booked two individuals for performing dangerous driving stunts on snow-covered roads in Gulmarg, endangering the lives of pedestrians and other road users.
Officials said Police Station Gulmarg registered FIR No. 19/2025 under Sections 281 and 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Section 184 of the Motor Vehicles Act against Imad ur Rehman Miya of Molvi Stop, Lal Bazar, Srinagar, and Mohd Munzarin Kullu of Alamdar Colony, Lal Bazar, Srinagar.
According to a police spokesperson, the accused were caught indulging in reckless driving on slippery, snow-laden roads, creating a life-threatening situation in the popular tourist destination. The vehicles involved, bearing registration numbers JK01BB-3417 and JK01AP-5151, were seized on the spot and legal proceedings were initiated.
In addition to legal action, the accused were counselled and sternly warned against repeating such behaviour. Police advised them to strictly adhere to traffic regulations, particularly during snowfall and hazardous road conditions.
Baramulla Police appealed to the public, especially young drivers, to avoid thrill-seeking on public roads and to cooperate with law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of locals and tourists in Gulmarg.
