KATHUA: In view of the prevailing security scenario, Mohita Sharma, IPS, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua, on Thursday reviewed the ongoing operational preparedness in the Billawar and Malhar areas of Kathua district as part of the winter security strategy ahead of the New Year.
The review was conducted along with SP Upper Kathua, SDPO Billawar, DySP PC Malhar, and SHO Billawar, with the objective of assessing ground-level alertness and preparedness of police and security forces.
During the visit, the SSP inspected the Guddu Falal area of Billawar and the Katli area of Malhar, where she met Special Operations Group (SOG) jawans and reviewed their operational readiness. Officers and personnel deployed on the ground were directed to remain alert and vigilant, and to strictly adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs).
SP Upper Kathua briefed the SSP on the strategies and preparedness of SOG units to counter the nefarious designs of anti-national elements, and also highlighted the operational requirements of police personnel deployed in the field.
Emphasising the importance of maintaining peace and security, SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma directed all officers to remain extra vigilant and proactive in their respective jurisdictions. She stressed the need for strong coordination among various security agencies, stating that effective inter-agency cooperation is vital to addressing potential security challenges in the coming period.
