JAMMU: A contingent of 71 students, along with four caretakers, from the Jammu Police Zone was flagged off on Thursday for a nine-day visit to Gujarat to attend the 26th Rashtra Katha Shivir, officials said.
The national-level camp, organised by the Shri Vedic Mission Trust, will be held at Pransla village in Rajkot district from December 27 to January 4, 2026. The programme is aimed at engaging youth from border and hilly regions in cultural, educational and motivational activities, while promoting patriotism, social harmony and national integration.
Students selected for the shivir hail from Reasi, Doda, Kishtwar and Poonch districts and represent government higher secondary schools, police public schools and private institutions. The Jammu and Kashmir Police coordinated the selection process and ensured the safe travel of the group from Jammu to Gujarat and to the shivir venue.
The contingent is being accompanied by four caretakers—Sub-Inspector Jai Paul Sharma, Assistant Sub-Inspector Rajeshwar Nath, Head Constable Raju Badyal and Malti Adhikari of Police Public School, Miran Sahib—who will oversee the students throughout the journey and the duration of the camp. They have been instructed to maintain close coordination with local police units en route and remain in contact with the Police Control Room, Jammu.
Before the departure, Staff Officer to the Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Shamsheer Hussain briefed the students and said the shivir would provide a valuable opportunity for young participants from Jammu and Kashmir to interact with peers from across the country, experience India’s cultural diversity and represent the Union Territory in a positive manner.
He also advised the students to uphold discipline and responsible behaviour and act as ambassadors of the Jammu and Kashmir Police during the programme.
