JAMMU: Acting tough against criminal elements, Jammu Police on Wednesday, December 25, 2025, booked two notorious criminals from the R.S. Pura and Arnia areas under the Public Safety Act (PSA) and lodged them in District Jail Poonch.
According to police, notorious criminal Paramjeet Kumar alias Jungi, son of late Devi Dass and resident of Draptey, Tehsil R.S. Pura, District Jammu, was booked under the PSA after the District Magistrate, Jammu, issued formal detention orders. Following his detention, he was shifted to District Jail Poonch.
Another hardcore criminal, Shubam Saini alias Mundi, son of Darshan Lal Saini and resident of Arnia, who is involved in multiple FIRs registered in recent months, was also booked under the PSA after obtaining detention orders from the District Magistrate, Jammu. He too has been lodged in District Jail Poonch.
Police said that several FIRs are already registered against both the accused in Jammu district. Despite repeatedly securing bail from courts, the accused continued to indulge in criminal activities. To prevent further offences and maintain public order, dossiers under the stringent PSA were prepared and recommended, following which the District Magistrate issued detention warrants.
The action was carried out by teams from Police Station Arnia, led by the SHO PS Arnia, and Police Station R.S. Pura, led by the SHO R.S. Pura, under the supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu.
Local residents have appreciated the decisive action taken by Jammu Police in curbing criminal activities in the area.
Jammu Police reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the public and stated that all necessary measures are being taken to curb criminal activities, including those related to drug peddling and organised crime.
