JAMMU: In view of the ongoing redevelopment of Jammu Tawi Railway Station under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway has introduced a temporary change in the entry and exit arrangements to facilitate the smooth movement of passengers.
Under the revised system, implemented from September 16, 2026, the Platform No. 1 side has been designated for passenger entry, while the Narwal side has been designated as the exit for passengers completing their journeys. Railway authorities said the arrangement is temporary and has been put in place with priority to passenger convenience, safety and security.
To ensure smooth implementation, railway officers are regularly inspecting the station premises, reviewing arrangements and issuing necessary directions. Round-the-clock CCTV surveillance is also being maintained at key locations, including entry and exit gates, platforms and the circulating area, to strengthen crowd management and passenger safety.
Checking staff of the Commercial Department, Scouts and Guides volunteers, Railway Protection Force personnel and Government Railway Police have been deployed at prominent locations to guide passengers and explain the revised movement system.
Adequate arrangements for autos and other modes of transport have also been made at the Narwal-side exit to enable passengers to proceed to their destinations conveniently.
Clear directional signage has been installed throughout the station premises, while continuous announcements through the Public Announcement System are being made to keep passengers informed about the revised arrangements.
The Jammu Division has appealed to passengers to follow the designated routes and cooperate with railway authorities during the redevelopment period. Once completed, the redevelopment project is expected to equip Jammu Tawi Railway Station with modern and upgraded passenger facilities.
