Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday met Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
In a post shared on X, PM Modi said he had a “great conversation” with Rahmon and expressed India’s keenness to expand bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
“Great conversation with Mr. Emomali Rahmon, the President of Tajikistan. India looks forward to boosting cooperation with Tajikistan across diverse sectors,” PM Modi wrote.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the 26th SCO Summit, which PM Modi addressed earlier in the day.
The Prime Minister also met Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR) President Thongloun Sisoulith on the sidelines of the summit and discussed strengthening bilateral ties between India and Laos.
“Met Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith, President of Lao PDR on the sidelines of the SCO Summit in Bishkek. Had a great conversation on boosting bilateral linkages between our nations,” PM Modi said in another post on X.
Addressing the SCO Summit, PM Modi reiterated India’s position that dialogue and diplomacy are the only way forward to resolve conflicts and called for zero tolerance towards terrorism.
