SRINAGAR: The Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI), District Centre Srinagar, today organised the Junior Level Idea Challenge at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Amira Kadal, Srinagar, with an aim to foster innovation, entrepreneurial thinking and startup culture among students.
The programme was formally inaugurated by Gh. Mohiuddin Bhat, Chief Education Officer (CEO), Srinagar, along with Dr. Nusrat Manzoor, Principal, GHSS Amira Kadal, who appreciated the initiative and underscored the importance of creating an enabling ecosystem for young students innovators.
Shabir Hussain Shah, District Nodal Officer, JKEDI Srinagar, gave a detailed presentation on the J&K Startup Policy, highlighting the various opportunities, incentives and institutional support available to aspiring entrepreneurs under the policy.
A key highlight of the camp was the Startup Idea Challenge, wherein more than 70 students participated and 24 candidates from various Higher Secondary and High Schools presented their innovative ideas before the jury. The ideas covered diverse sectors including sustainable waste management, agricultural solutions and other emerging fields, reflecting the creativity and problem-solving potential of the participants.
The bootcamp provided participants with an opportunity to present their ideas, receive expert feedback and gain valuable insights into developing their concepts into viable and scalable startup ventures.
The initiative is part of JKEDI’s continued efforts to promote a culture of innovation, entrepreneurship and self-employment among the youth of Jammu & Kashmir and to provide aspiring entrepreneurs with platforms for mentorship, idea validation and startup development.
The programme concluded with an interactive session, wherein participants expressed keen interest in taking their ideas forward and exploring opportunities under the J&K Startup ecosystem.
Aming others, the programme was attended by Neelofar Jan, Lead District Manager (LDM), Srinagar, senior faculty members of JKEDI and GHSS Amira Kadal, startup founders, aspiring entrepreneurs and students.
