SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Thursday witnessed uproar after BJP legislators disrupted the Question Hour, alleging that resolutions moved by their party members were not taken up by the House earlier.
As soon as proceedings began, a BJP MLA stood up, claiming his resolutions had been ignored the previous day. The Speaker asked him to take his seat and allow the Question Hour to continue, but the protesting members persisted.
“Some of your questions were taken up yesterday, but resolutions could not be. I cannot help you in this,” the Speaker told the agitating lawmakers.
Visibly irritated, the Speaker further remarked, “Boltey raho, boltey raho (keep speaking); we will continue with the Question Hour.” However, BJP MLAs continued sloganeering, shouting “Humare saath insaaf karo, insaaf karo.”
In response to the unrest, the Speaker allowed Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma to speak on behalf of his party. Sharma raised the issue of flood-affected families in Kishtwar and other areas of the Jammu division.
“You don’t allow our adjournment motion to be discussed in the House. It’s not just about our resolutions — you are ignoring the pain and suffering of the people of Kishtwar,” he said, accusing the government of failing to respond to the crisis.
The protests continued, leading to repeated interruptions of the House proceedings.
