KATRA: Exhibiting prompt action and effective investigation, Reasi Police have successfully solved a theft case reported from a temple premises in the main bazaar area of Katra, within just a few days. The swift operation led to the arrest of the accused and recovery of the stolen gold ornaments.
On October 15, 2025, a complaint was lodged at Police Station Katra regarding the theft of gold ornaments from the idol inside a temple located in the main bazaar. Acting swiftly, FIR No. 281/2025 under Sections 331(4)/305(d) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered, and investigation was initiated.
Through meticulous investigation, diligent fieldwork, and analysis of available leads, police teams managed to identify and apprehend the suspect — Shakti Kumar Verma, S/o Sansar Chand, R/o Garhi, District Udhampur.
During sustained interrogation, the accused confessed to his involvement in the theft. On his disclosure, 30 grams of gold ornaments, valued at approximately ₹3 lakh, were recovered from his possession.
The swift detection of the case showcases the dedication, professionalism, and efficiency of Reasi Police in maintaining law and order and ensuring justice to the community. Further investigation is underway to determine any possible involvement of the accused in similar offences.
The entire operation was conducted under the leadership of SHO Police Station Katra, Insp. Khyatiman Khajuria, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra, Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra, Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
