JAMMU: Police on Sunday arrested a suspected criminal and recovered a pistol along with a ‘toka’, a sharp-edged weapon, from his possession on the outskirts of Jammu city, officials said.
According to a police spokesman, a patrolling team noticed the man moving under suspicious circumstances in the Malik Market area of Narwal and stopped him for frisking.
During the search, police recovered a pistol and a toka from his possession, following which he was taken into custody.
The weapons were seized in accordance with the prescribed procedure, the spokesman said.
A case has been registered under relevant provisions of law and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source of the illegal weapons and determine whether the accused was involved in any other criminal activities.
