KATHUA: To review the overall security scenario and enhance coordination among different agencies, SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma, IPS, chaired an interstate agencies coordination and security review meeting today at the Conference Hall, District Police Lines (DPL) Kathua.
The meeting was attended by SP (Operations) Border Kathua Mukund Tibrewal, IPS, Addl. SP Kathua Rahul Charak, JKPS, SP (Operations) Upper Kathua Aumer Iqbal, along with officers from the Army, CRPF, BSF, CID (CI & SB), Army Intelligence, Home Guard, Disaster Management, and SDPOs and supervisory officers of the district.
The discussions primarily focused on border infiltration, Dera movement, checking infiltration routes, and regulation of drone activity, with emphasis on strengthening inter-agency coordination—particularly with counterparts in Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
During the meeting, participants were directed to reinforce security grids along the International Border (IB) and National Highways (NHWs). Officers were advised to maintain close coordination at the SDPO/SHO level, share intelligence regarding interstate drug peddlers, bovine smugglers, history-sheeters, and other notorious elements, and intensify joint patrolling along interstate borders.
It was further decided to establish joint nakas and conduct vehicle checking on routes originating from border areas and highways to foil nefarious designs of anti-national and anti-social elements (ANEs/ASEs).
Representatives from the Army and CRPF were also directed to depute manpower for joint CASO (Cordon and Search Operations) and anti-tunnelling exercises along the International Border, which are being conducted regularly. They were further instructed to closely monitor drone activity in border areas.
Concluding the meeting, SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma emphasized the need for heightened vigilance, enhanced inter-agency synergy, and proactive security measures across the district to counter any attempt of infiltration, drone dropping, or movement of anti-national elements.
