KATRA: District Police Reasi have intensified enforcement to ensure strict compliance with tenant verification norms and lawful directives, registering multiple FIRs against violators during a special verification drive across the district.
During a verification operation at Daba Morh, Police Post Banganga found tenants residing without mandatory verification at a shed owned by Chain Singh, son of Deepti, resident of Jadsarkote, Udhampur. Consequently, FIR No. 30/2026 under Section 223(a) BNS was registered.
In another action along the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi (SMVD) Track, police detected an unauthorised pony operator, Shabir Khan, son of Nasib Ali, resident of Jandial, Jammu, working without a valid registration card. He was booked under FIR No. 28/2026 under Section 223(a) BNS.
Similarly, at Kakryal, Nazir Ahmed, son of Din Mohammad, resident of Kun Kanyala Panthal, Katra, was found keeping tenants Sajad Ahmed Dar and his wife Daisy Jaan without verification. This led to the registration of FIR No. 29/2026 under Section 223 BNS.
Additionally, Onkar Singh, son of Krishan Singh, resident of Chamba Chandwa, Katra, was apprehended under Section 355 BNS and subsequently penalised by the Hon’ble Court.
The operation was conducted by I/C PP Banganga PSI Rahul Jamwal, I/C PP Kakryal PSI Akhilesh Khajuria, and SHO Police Station Katra Inspector Ranjeet Singh Rao, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra Shri Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
SSP Reasi, Shri Paramvir Singh, JKPS, reiterated that District Police Reasi urges all landlords, pony operators, and service providers to strictly adhere to tenant verification and registration norms. Any violation will be dealt with firmly under the law.
