JAMMU: On the auspicious occasion of the Fourth Navratra, Kunwarani Dr. Ritu Singh, Co-founder of the Maharaja Hari Singh Foundation, visited the Oncology Ward of Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital, Jammu, to celebrate the festival with cancer patients and extend support through essential donations.
In a gesture of empathy, Dr. Ritu Singh distributed blankets, pillows, and bedsheets to underprivileged cancer patients. The initiative, organized under the banner of the Foundation, reflects its mission to serve humanity and uplift communities in need.
The celebrations began with a cake-cutting ceremony in the presence of patients, hospital staff, and faculty members, symbolizing joy and togetherness. Special prayers were also offered for the health, strength, and recovery of all patients, seeking the blessings of Maa Durga.
Appreciating GMC Jammu’s facilities, Dr. Singh lauded Dr. Ashutosh Gupta, Principal & Dean, for his leadership in raising the institution’s standards of care. “When civil society collaborates with government institutions, the impact is not just multiplied—it becomes transformational. Today’s event is a reflection of what compassion and cooperation can achieve,” she said.
She was joined by members of the Maharaja Hari Singh Foundation, educators, civil society representatives, and senior GMC faculty, including Heads of Departments and senior staff from Radiation Oncology, Anaesthesia, Orthopaedics, Microbiology, Pathology, and Blood Transfusion.
The event highlighted the enduring legacy of Maharaja Hari Singh, whose ideals of compassion, service, and community welfare continue to inspire the Foundation’s outreach efforts.
