AHMEDABAD: Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Sunday hailed India’s resilience amid global geopolitical uncertainty and said challenges arising from the current global situation “cannot touch or trouble” the country due to what he described as an “invincible protective wall called Narendra Modi.”
Speaking at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) for the Kutch and Saurashtra region in Rajkot, Ambani said this is India’s “defining decade” under the Prime Minister’s leadership. The conference was inaugurated by PM Modi, who stated that India is witnessing a phase of unprecedented certainty and political stability at a time when much of the world is facing uncertainty.
Ambani said India is not only preparing for the future but actively shaping it, adding that industry in Saurashtra and Kutch is eager to contribute to the growth vision laid out by the Prime Minister.
Doubling Investment in Gujarat
Ambani announced that Reliance will double its investment in Gujarat from ₹3.5 lakh crore to ₹7 lakh crore over the next five years, promising exponential employment generation and wealth creation in the state. He reiterated Reliance’s commitment to Gujarat as its largest investor.
Focus on AI Leadership
Ambani said Reliance is committed to making Gujarat India’s pioneer in Artificial Intelligence (AI). He announced the construction of India’s largest AI-ready data centre in Jamnagar, aimed at ensuring “affordable AI for every Indian.” He said Jio will soon launch an intelligent, people-first digital platform to enable citizens—starting in Gujarat—to access AI services on their own devices and in their own languages.
Push for Clean Energy
Ambani highlighted Reliance’s goal of achieving global leadership in clean energy and green materials. In Jamnagar, the company is developing what he called the world’s largest integrated clean energy ecosystem, spanning solar power, battery storage, green hydrogen, green fertilizers, sustainable aviation and maritime fuels, and advanced materials. He said Jamnagar, once known for hydrocarbon exports, will become India’s largest exporter of green energy and materials in the coming years.
He also said industry is committed to transforming Kutch into a global clean energy hub, with a multi-gigawatt solar project designed to deliver round-the-clock clean power through advanced storage and modern grid systems.
Support for Olympic Vision
Ambani expressed support for the Prime Minister’s vision of hosting the 2036 Olympic Games in Ahmedabad. He announced that Reliance Foundation will partner with the Gujarat government to manage the Veer Savarkar Multi-Sports Complex in Naranpura, envisioned as a venue for major sporting events and a training centre for future athletes.
Ambani concluded by reiterating that Reliance will continue to invest at an “unprecedented scale” in Gujarat, contributing to economic growth, employment and technological progress.
