JAMMU: The NSS Unit of MIER College of Education celebrated ‘Poshan Maah’ with great zeal and enthusiasm at Government Model Higher Secondary School (GMHSS), Domana, aiming to spread awareness among adolescents about the importance of nutrition and healthy food habits.
The programme was graced by Principal Mohinder, Vice-Principal Arti Sharma, and Dr. Alka Sharma, who extended their support to the initiative.
The event began with a warm welcome by Bhrighu Sharma and Sachinda Mahajan, followed by a Welcome Address by Dr. Komal Sharma, NSS Programme Officer. NSS volunteers presented speeches on nutrition, while a creative poster display by students highlighted the harmful effects of junk food, risks of obesity, and the benefits of a balanced diet. Poems recited by Priyanshi, Manpreet, and Sunaina added an artistic touch to the event.
A special highlight was an interactive Quiz Competition, organized by Ritika Bhat and volunteers of B.Ed. Special Education, Semester I. Senior secondary students participated with enthusiasm, and winners Priya Sharma, Vidya Bhat, Monika, and Amrita Sharma were felicitated with certificates and prizes.
In his address, Principal Mohinder motivated students to adopt healthy dietary practices and led them in taking a pledge on healthy food habits. Prof. Adit Gupta, Director & Principal of MIER College of Education, lauded the efforts of the NSS Unit for sensitizing adolescent students towards nutrition and healthy living.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Akshita Thakur.
