JAMMU: Heritage School Jammu student and roller-skating champion Puneesh Puri has been honoured with the Special Cash Award for Outstanding Sportspersons by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council for his achievements in competitive skating.
Puneesh received a cash award of Rs 1 lakh in recognition of his performances in roller skating during the 2023-24 and 2024-25 sporting sessions. The award ceremony was held at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC), Srinagar, on August 10.
The award was presented in the presence of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Minister for Youth Services and Sports Satish Sharma.
Puneesh has consistently excelled in competitive roller skating through dedication, discipline and perseverance. Among his major achievements are two gold medals at the 63rd National Roller-Skating Championship 2025, besides several other championship victories and podium finishes.
The Heritage School fraternity congratulated Puneesh on the recognition and wished him continued success in his sporting career.
The school said his achievement would serve as an inspiration for other students to pursue their aspirations with determination, dedication and excellence.
