JAMMU: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, today met His Excellency Batu Sergeyevich Khasikov, Head of the Republic of Kalmykia, Russia, to discuss matters related to cultural and spiritual cooperation.
During the meeting, the Lieutenant Governor expressed gratitude to Khasikov for facilitating the grand visit of the holy relics of Lord Buddha to the region.
Commenting on the long-standing India-Russia ties, the Lieutenant Governor said,
“The holy relics’ visit to this land is a testimony to the decades-long relationship between India and Russia. In 2027, India and Russia will complete 80 years of diplomatic relations, and we look forward to marking this milestone with a series of bilateral events and activities.”
He also highlighted plans for an India Festival in Kalmykia in April 2026, assuring that India would make every effort to ensure the event is a grand success.
