JAMMU: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today handed over the exhibitions belonging to the International Buddhist Confederation and the National Museum to the Kalmyk Museum at Elista, Republic of Kalmykia, Russia.
The Lieutenant Governor said that the gesture will ensure that the teachings and significance of Lord Buddha and the visit of holy relics to Kalmykia remain etched in the hearts of the people of this beautiful region.
“History, tradition, culture, and spiritual wisdom shape identity, transmit ethical values across generations, and drive sustainable development. Preservation and education of heritage are essential, and I am truly delighted to see this museum as a small Kalmykia in itself under one roof,” the Lt Governor said.
Later, the Lieutenant Governor visited the National Library at Elista, named after Amur-Sanan, a renowned Kalmyk writer and public figure. During the visit, the Lt Governor donated several books on Buddhism to the library.
