KARGIL: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, today paid solemn homage to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives during the Kargil War at the Drass War Memorial
. Accompanied by his wife, Bindu Gupta, the Lt Governor offered floral tributes and observed a moment of silence in memory of the martyrs.
The couple turned visibly emotional while going through the Soldiers’ Last Letters and Pictures displayed in the Hut of Remembrance, a poignant reminder of the courage and sacrifice of the Indian Armed Forces.
Speaking on the occasion, the Lt Governor described the Drass War Memorial as a sacred shrine of valour, symbolizing the indomitable spirit and patriotism of the armed forces.
“The supreme sacrifices of our bravehearts will continue to inspire generations to live by the ideals of duty, honour, and putting the nation first,”
he said.
The Lt Governor reaffirmed the UT Administration’s commitment to the welfare of soldiers, veterans, and their families, stressing that it is the nation’s collective responsibility to honour their service and sacrifice.
The visit concluded with the Lt Governor and the First Lady interacting with Army personnel and extending heartfelt gratitude for their tireless service in safeguarding India’s frontiers.
