LEH: The Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, celebrated Diwali with the Indian Army personnel stationed in the Union Territory, expressing deep gratitude for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in guarding the nation’s borders.
The celebration, organised by the Fire & Fury Corps at Rinchen Auditorium, was attended by Lieutenant General Hitesh Bhalla, General Officer Commanding (GOC), 14 Corps; Major General Praveen Chhabra, GOC, 72 Sub Area; Brigadier Umesh Parab; and Brigadier Ajay Katoch, along with other officers and jawans.
Extending Diwali greetings on behalf of the people of Ladakh, the Lt Governor saluted the bravery, courage and devotion of the Indian Army personnel serving in some of the world’s most challenging terrains. He remarked that while citizens celebrate Diwali with their families, the jawans remain on duty in extreme conditions to ensure peace and security across the nation.
“The entire country is indebted to our soldiers who guard the frontiers with unwavering resolve. They are the living diyas whose light of patriotism can never be extinguished by any enemy force,” the Lt Governor said.
He also paid homage to the Indian Army’s heroism during the Kargil War and their continued steadfastness at the Siachen Glacier, one of the highest and coldest battlefields in the world, where temperatures often drop below minus 50 degrees Celsius.
Drawing inspiration from Bhagwan Ram, the Lt Governor said that Diwali symbolises the victory of truth and righteousness — a celebration of India’s unity in diversity. He reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of India and the UT Administration to the welfare of armed forces personnel, ex-servicemen, and their families.
Urging citizens to play their part in nation-building, Gupta called upon everyone to contribute towards the vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047.
Later, the Hon’ble Lt Governor interacted with the jawans, shared sweets, and wished them a year filled with peace, prosperity, and collective progress.
