JAMMU: The Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has intensified its efforts to improve civic amenities by launching a special drive for street light repair and restoration across the city. T
he campaign aims to ensure that every lane, road, and public space remains well-lit, thereby enhancing public safety and convenience.
To review the initiative at the grassroots level, JMC Commissioner Dr. Devansh Yadav today visited the street light repair camp organized in Roopnagar ward.
The camp saw active participation from former councillors, local residents, and community leaders, who welcomed the Corporation’s citizen-friendly approach.
Dr. Yadav interacted with municipal staff and residents registering their grievances, personally reviewing the complaint registration system. He assured the public that all issues will be resolved on priority and directed officials to ensure disposal of complaints within 15 days. He also emphasized ward-wise monitoring and submission of regular progress reports.
Encouraging citizens to take maximum benefit of the facility, the Commissioner urged them to register complaints either at ward-level camps or through JMC’s strengthened online grievance redressal system.
Under this special drive, repair camps are being set up in every ward, offering residents direct access to officials while also strengthening digital complaint mechanisms. Locals of Roopnagar expressed satisfaction with the initiative, noting that face-to-face grievance redressal builds trust and ensures quicker resolution.
Former councillors lauded Dr. Yadav’s proactive approach, describing it as a step towards more responsive and accountable urban governance.
The ongoing campaign is part of JMC’s broader vision to modernize civic infrastructure and improve service delivery. By combining on-ground outreach with digital platforms, the Corporation aims to restore Jammu’s street lighting network to an efficient and modern standard.
