JAMMU: In a significant development in e-Governance and urban technology, Ankush Kapoor, Chief Informatics Officer, J&K Housing & Urban Development Department, has secured copyright registration from the Copyright Office, Government of India, for his innovation titled “AI Driven Autonomous Building Compliance and Digital Twin Based Urban Governance System.”
The innovation has been registered under Copyright Registration No. LD-20260195452, dated September 22, 2026. It explores the integration of Artificial Intelligence, Geographic Information System (GIS), Computer Vision and Digital Twin technology to automate and strengthen building compliance, construction monitoring and urban governance, with an emphasis on transparency and technology-driven administration.
A Provisional Patent for the underlying innovation was also filed earlier this year.
Kapoor attributed the achievement to the encouragement and confidence extended by the senior leadership of the Housing & Urban Development Department, which entrusted him with the opportunity to develop technology-based solutions for urban governance.
The innovation comes amid the growing adoption of emerging technologies in Jammu and Kashmir’s e-Governance and Smart City initiatives, with the broader objective of developing more efficient and intelligent systems for urban management.
Kapoor, a technology and e-Governance professional serving as Chief Informatics Officer in the J&K Housing & Urban Development Department, has been associated with digital transformation initiatives in urban governance. His areas of work include Artificial Intelligence, GIS, cyber security, digital governance, Smart City technologies and urban technology solutions, with a focus on improving public services, transparency and administrative efficiency.
