JAMMU: Shiv Kumar, IPS, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Jammu–Samba–Kathua Range, on Monday unveiled the Jammu and Kashmir Police Calendar–2026, created through impactful cartoons, at a समारोह held in the presence of senior police officers.
The calendar was unveiled in the presence of Sanjay Kumar Sharma, SO to DIG JSK Range; Amit Bhasin, SSP Traffic Jammu; Additional SP Traffic Jammu; Rabinder Raina, Private Secretary to DIG JSK Range, and other officers.
Designed as more than just a date-keeper, the calendar carries a strong social message, especially for those who break the law and ignore social responsibility. All cartoons featured in the calendar have been created by Chandrashekhar, an internationally renowned cartoonist who has been using his art to awaken society for over three decades.
The calendar highlights the positive and proactive role of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in protecting society, with special emphasis on youth-related issues, particularly the growing menace of drug abuse. It showcases the strict action taken against drug peddlers and smugglers under Operation Sanjeevani, through which the police have dealt a strong blow to the drug trade.
It also reflects the police’s firm stand against terrorism and crime, while drawing attention to the dangers of the Chinese kite string (gattu), which claims lives every year. The calendar depicts the strict enforcement measures undertaken by the J&K Police to curb this deadly practice.
Other social issues addressed include underage boys performing dangerous bike stunts, causing public harassment, and crimes against women and minor girls, highlighting the strict legal action taken in such cases.
The 12-page calendar presents these themes in a simple yet powerful manner, underlining the dedicated, fearless and people-centric role of the Jammu and Kashmir Police in building a safer and more responsible society.
