JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has ordered a major reshuffle in the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department, transferring and posting 24 Block Development Officers, Look-after BDOs and equivalent officers across different blocks and offices in the Union Territory.
The transfers and postings were ordered through Government Order No. 235-JK(RD&PR) of 2026, dated August 20, in the interest of administration and with immediate effect. The order also assigns additional charge of several blocks to existing officers and places some officials at the disposal of other organisations and directorates.
Under the order, Sushil Singh has been shifted from Block Akhnoor to Block Samwan, while Maqbool Ahmad, presently BDO (Headquarters) in the office of ACD Samba, has been posted as BDO Surankote in place of Qadeer Charak.
Gohar Aarzoo Chaand has been transferred from Ganderbal to Shopian and may also hold the charge of Block Ram Nagri. Fayaz Ahmad Mir, presently BDO Hajin, has been posted as BDO Ganderbal and will additionally hold the charge of BDO Safapora.
Several Look-after BDOs have also been reassigned to blocks including Mathwar, Majalta, Thakrakote, Magam, Lassana, Sangrama, Gund, Gurez, Sherbad Khore and Sogam.
The government has directed that all the officers covered under the order shall be deemed to have been relieved forthwith.
