JAMMU: Students of Jammu Sanskriti School brought laurels to their institution by securing first prize at the “Sunshine Snacks: A Picnic Basket Competition,” organised by Jammu Pariyatan Vikas Cooperative Limited in collaboration with the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. The event was held at the scenic Jhajjar Kotli.
The competition aimed to promote the concept of picnics among school students while encouraging travel-friendly, sustainable, and creative food practices. Participants presented innovative and healthy picnic baskets, focusing on presentation and thematic concepts.
Students from several reputed schools across Jammu participated enthusiastically. Jammu Sanskriti School stood out for its creativity and execution, with Jasleen, Nidiya, Shruti, and Ashneer clinching the top position under the mentorship of Rashi Gupta and Sushma Jamwal.
The event was graced by Chief Guest Riyaz Ahmed, who appreciated the students’ creativity and emphasized the importance of organising such activities in natural surroundings. Guest of Honour V. K. Magoo also lauded the initiative for promoting experiential learning.
The competition was judged by a panel including Prof. Komal Nagar, Sukriti Vaid, and Pawandeep Singh Mehta.
Principal-cum-Vice Chairperson Rohini Aima expressed pride in the students’ achievement, highlighting their teamwork, creativity, and dedication. She also commended the mentors for their guidance, noting that such platforms play a vital role in nurturing life skills and innovation among students.
