JAMMU: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti on Monday chaired a high-level security coordination meeting, stressing meticulous planning and close inter-agency coordination to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of Republic Day celebrations.
Jammu will host the main Republic Day function on January 26 at M A Stadium, where Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha will unfurl the Tricolour and take the salute. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will attend the event as the chief guest.
The security review meeting was held at the Police Control Room (PCR), Jammu, and was attended by senior officers from the Police, Army, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and intelligence agencies, a police spokesperson said.
The primary focus of the meeting was to ensure peaceful, secure, and well-coordinated Republic Day events across the Jammu region. Detailed deliberations were held on law and order management, security protocols, traffic regulation, inter-agency coordination, and safety measures for participants and spectators.
Addressing the officers, IGP Tuti emphasised the need for seamless information sharing, high alertness, and a robust security posture. He underlined the importance of preparedness of all law enforcement and emergency response units to deal with any eventuality.
The IGP also directed SSP Jammu, SSP Traffic City, and other supervisory officers to identify and create adequate parking facilities, ensure effective traffic management, and maintain heightened vigilance in their respective jurisdictions to facilitate smooth Republic Day celebrations.
