SHIMLA: A media get-together was organised at Lok Bhavan, Shimla, where Himachal Pradesh Governor Kavinder Gupta interacted with senior journalists and media representatives and discussed a range of issues concerning the state.
During the open and informal interaction, discussions covered development, public aspirations, youth, tourism, employment and the evolving socio-political landscape of Himachal Pradesh. Members of the media fraternity also apprised the Governor of various public concerns, development priorities and challenges facing the media sector, besides sharing suggestions for strengthening constructive dialogue between the media and public institutions.
Gupta appreciated the role of the media in strengthening democracy and serving as a bridge between people and institutions of governance. He emphasised the importance of responsible, credible and constructive journalism with public interest at its core.
The Governor said the media has an important responsibility to bring people’s concerns to the forefront, highlight positive developments and contribute to informed public discourse. He also urged journalists to uphold high standards of professionalism, objectivity and public accountability while discharging their responsibilities.
