REASI: In a major action against the drug menace, District Police Reasi apprehended a narcotics offender and recovered heroin-like substance from his possession in Katra.
On the evening of October 27, 2025, a routine patrolling team from Police Station Katra was conducting checks at Stadium Road, Katra. During naka checking, a suspicious person coming from Balni towards Katra was intercepted for frisking. Upon checking, the police recovered 2.010 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
During preliminary questioning, the accused identified himself as Harish Thakur, son of Des Raj Thakur, resident of Sukalghati, Tehsil Bhomag, District Reasi, presently residing at Railway Road, Katra.
In this regard, FIR No. 290/2025 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Katra. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband and identify the network involved in its supply.
The entire operation was conducted under the leadership of SHO Police Station Katra, Insp. Khyatiman Khajuria, under the close supervision of SDPO Katra, Dr. Bhishm Dubey, JKPS, and SP Katra, Vipan Chandran, JKPS.
SSP Reasi, Paramvir Singh, JKPS, reiterated that District Police Reasi remains committed to its sustained drive against drug peddlers and anti-social elements to make the district drug-free.
“We appeal to citizens to join hands with police in the fight against drugs by sharing any information related to drug trafficking or suspicious activities,” SSP Reasi said.
