JAMMU: In a significant initiative aimed at promoting health, fitness and overall well-being of municipal employees, Commissioner Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD), Mandeep Kaur, today inaugurated a newly constructed Health Club developed by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) at Gandhi Nagar.
The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Commissioner, JMC, Dr. Devansh Yadav, along with senior officers of the Corporation. The state-of-the-art health club is equipped with a modern, well-furnished gymnasium featuring advanced fitness equipment, designed to encourage a healthy and active lifestyle among JMC officials.
Addressing the gathering, Mandeep Kaur underlined the importance of physical fitness for government employees, stating that a healthy workforce is essential for efficient and effective public service delivery. She informed that the facility will initially be available exclusively for JMC officials to help them manage work-related stress and maintain physical fitness. She added that, in the future, membership would be extended to other sections of society so that the wider public can also benefit from the facility.
The Commissioner Secretary appreciated the efforts of the Jammu Municipal Corporation in creating employee-centric infrastructure and urged officials to make optimal use of the health club while maintaining discipline and hygiene within the premises.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Devansh Yadav described the health club as a valuable addition to JMC’s employee welfare initiatives. He encouraged officers and staff to regularly use the facility and adopt a healthy lifestyle. He also emphasized proper maintenance and responsible use of the facility to ensure its long-term utility, reaffirming JMC’s commitment to employee welfare alongside ongoing developmental and civic works in the city.
The inauguration of the health club reflects JMC’s continued focus on employee well-being and its holistic approach towards strengthening both civic infrastructure and human resource welfare in Jammu city.
