SRINAGAR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested two public servants while allegedly accepting a bribe from a complainant in Anantnag district, officials said.
According to officials, CBI teams caught a Patwari and a Chowkidar, both residents of Halqa Soaf Shali, Kokernag, while accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 from the complainant.
An official said the CBI registered the case on January 15, 2026, against the Patwari after receiving a complaint alleging that he had demanded a bribe of ₹30,000 for carrying out the demarcation of the complainant’s land.
“Acting on the complaint, the CBI laid a trap on January 15, 2026, and caught the Patwari red-handed along with the middleman Chowkidar, who is also a public servant, while accepting the bribe,” the official said.
Both accused have been arrested and further investigation is underway, the official added.
