KATHMANDU: The death toll from Nepal’s devastating flash floods rose to 1,344 on Saturday as rescue teams recovered more bodies from affected districts, while 4,898 people remain missing, officials said. According to Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, more than 13,000 people have so far been rescued from flood-hit areas. The floods were triggered by an ice-rock avalanche near the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26, sending massive volumes of water into the Bhotekoshi River and downstream areas. SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday said that the terrorist neutralised during Operation Ashdar has been identified as Yasir, a Pakistani national affiliated with the proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit. SRINAGAR: One terrorist was neutralised on Friday during a joint security operation codenamed ‘Operation ASHDAR’ in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam district, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps said. The operation was launched jointly by the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF following specific intelligence inputs about suspected terrorist movement in the area.
