SRINAGAR: Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Faz Lul Haseeb, on Saturday formally launched an education initiative aimed at supporting the academic aspirations of children of the Corporation’s sanitation workers. KATRA: Pilgrims planning to avail helicopter services for the Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrimage will have to pay more from November 1, with fares on the Katra-Sanjichhat route set to increase. The one-way helicopter fare between Katra and Sanjichhat will rise from the existing ₹2,320 to ₹2,700 per passenger, while the round-trip fare will increase from ₹4,640 to ₹5,400. The existing fare of ₹2,320, inclusive of five per cent GST, has been applicable since October 16, 2025. The current tariff includes the basic fare, royalty payable to the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, helipad development and maintenance charges, landing charges…
KISHTWAR: At least two persons were killed after an oil tanker met with an accident at Pathimhal in the Palmar area of Kishtwar district on Saturday, officials said. According to officials, the tanker was on its way when it met with the accident, resulting in the on-the-spot death of two persons travelling in the vehicle. Soon after the mishap, police and local residents rushed to the spot. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident. The identities of the deceased were being ascertained.
