JAMMU: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), J&K, has welcomed the decision of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central Government to increase Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR) by 3% for Central Government employees and pensioners, effective July 1, 2025. SIRMAUR (H.P.): A school principal in Himachal Pradesh found himself in an embarrassing situation after a cheque he issued for Rs 7,616 was rejected by the bank due to glaring spelling errors in the written amount. The cheque, signed on 25 September by Alter Singh, principal of Government Senior Secondary School, Ronhat, correctly displayed the numerical amount. However, the written amount read: “Saven Thursday six Harendra sixty rupees” instead of “Seven thousand six hundred sixteen rupees”.
