JAMMU: Anurag Thakur, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) and former Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, officially unveiled the logo of the Amar Singh Sports & Youth Initiative, J&K in New Delhi alongside Martand Singh, Director of the Initiative.
Thakur, who has also served as Secretary and President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, highlighted his long-standing association with sports administration in India.
Speaking at the event, Martand Singh emphasized the symbolism behind the logo, which incorporates the sun and the trishul. He revealed that the design was conceptualized by his grandfather, Karan Singh, a noted statesman and scholar. He also elaborated on the Initiative’s motto, inspired by the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, “Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached,” calling on youth to realize their potential and strive for excellence.
Martand Singh briefed Thakur on the Initiative’s work since its launch in October 2025, outlining its focus on promoting sports, skill development, and education among youth in Jammu & Kashmir. He described the region as having immense untapped potential.
During the interaction, Thakur shared suggestions to further strengthen youth engagement and sports culture. Discussions also touched upon the growing sports ecosystem in Jammu & Kashmir, supported by national initiatives like the Prime Minister’s Development Package and Khelo India Games, which have contributed to increased participation and infrastructure development.
“It was a very positive meeting. His words were both encouraging and inspiring, leaving me with renewed energy to carry forward these efforts,” Martand Singh said, describing the interaction as a privilege.
Apart from his role in the Initiative, Martand Singh also serves as a Trustee of the Amar Mahal Museum & Library, and briefed Thakur on its ongoing socio-cultural and artistic initiatives.
