NEW DELHI: Jio showcased a range of personal AI wearables at India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2026, offering a glimpse into how artificial intelligence could become part of everyday activities through voice-controlled technology.
The company unveiled camera glasses, audio glasses and earphones featuring an array of capabilities, including Scan & Pay, an AI voice assistant, support for multiple Indian languages, live translation, AI-powered note-taking and live cricket commentary.
Among the features demonstrated, Scan & Pay stood out for its potential to simplify digital transactions. The camera glasses can scan a UPI QR code, while users initiate payments through voice commands. Once the transaction is confirmed, the payment is processed.
The feature uses UPI Circle, which, according to the information shared, allows payments of up to ₹5,000 per transaction and a monthly limit of ₹15,000. These limits are governed by UPI Circle rules, rather than being specific to Jio.
The technology aims to reduce the steps involved in making payments at shops, allowing users to interact with digital services without repeatedly taking out their phones, unlocking them and opening payment applications. It reflects a broader shift towards AI systems that can respond to voice commands and help users complete everyday tasks.
Live translation is another key feature of the AI glasses. Designed to support conversations between people speaking different Indian languages, the technology aims to make communication easier by translating speech between users.
The wearables also feature AI note-taking to capture important points during meetings, while live cricket commentary is intended to help fans follow matches while travelling or carrying out other activities.
According to Jio, the products are designed to improve productivity, widen access to knowledge and make routine tasks more convenient. Their emphasis on voice interactions and Indian-language support seeks to make AI-powered services more accessible to users across different linguistic backgrounds.
While smart glasses are not new, the combination of UPI payments, multilingual translation, meeting assistance and cricket commentary highlights an effort to bring wearable technology closer to everyday Indian use cases.
Jio’s showcase at IMC 2026 signals a move towards a more hands-free digital experience, in which users can access information and services through voice commands rather than relying solely on screens and keyboards.
