JAMMU: AIIMS Jammu proudly welcomed the students of the MBA (Hospital Administration & Healthcare Management) Batch 2024–26 for their Academic Residency Program at the AIIMS Jammu campus. The students will undergo a six-week residential program designed to integrate academic learning with practical exposure in healthcare administration.
The program features structured pedagogy imparted by distinguished faculty and experts from AIIMS Jammu, IIT Jammu, and IIM Jammu, further enriched by eminent faculty from AIIMS Delhi and other leading institutions.
During the residency, students will undertake analytical case studies in clinical and non-clinical areas, including planning and designing specialty/super-specialty healthcare facilities, financial and logistics management, and operational strategies. This combination of hands-on experience and academic instruction aims to equip students for leadership roles in the healthcare ecosystem, both in India and internationally.
Launched on October 23, 2021, by AIIMS Jammu, IIT Jammu, and IIM Jammu, this MBA program is a first-of-its-kind initiative, uniting expertise in medical sciences, technology, and management to nurture future leaders in healthcare administration. Since its inception, the program has successfully graduated two batches, achieving 100% placement and setting benchmarks of excellence in healthcare management education. The current cohort represents the third batch, continuing this legacy of innovation and leadership.
The Academic Residency Program at AIIMS Jammu is coordinated by Dr. Ennas Chowdhary, Assistant Professor, Department of Hospital Administration, who ensures comprehensive exposure and integration of theoretical learning with practical insights.
Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Jammu, extended a warm welcome to the students, providing an overview of AIIMS Jammu’s vision, achievements, and future roadmap. He emphasized the importance of combining medical expertise, managerial acumen, and technological innovation to drive transformative changes in the healthcare sector, inspiring students to embrace leadership, innovation, and service in their professional journeys.
As part of the residency, students were acquainted with the functioning of various departments at AIIMS Jammu, gaining deeper insight into operations at a premier tertiary multi-specialty healthcare institute. This immersive experience is expected to prepare them to take on leadership roles in healthcare organizations and contribute meaningfully to the sector.
The joint MBA program by AIIMS, IIT, and IIM Jammu continues to stand as a pioneering educational model, fostering interdisciplinary excellence and producing visionary professionals ready to address the complex challenges of modern healthcare at national and global levels.
