JAMMU: AIIMS Jammu has announced the establishment of a Global Centre of Excellence for Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, following a high-level delegation visit on November 15, 2025, by representatives of Axonic Health UK and Claidroid Technologies, including Dr. Abhay Chopada, Prof. (Dr.) B. L. Raina and Mr. Vinay Sawarkar.
During the visit, officials reviewed the current and upcoming AI-driven healthcare initiatives at AIIMS Jammu. These include AI-based diagnostics, predictive medicine, clinical decision support systems, robotic surgical support, virtual care and telemedicine services. Executive Director Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta briefed the delegation on the institute’s digital transformation efforts and its roadmap for integrating AI into clinical services.
A follow-up Zoom demonstration session was later held with all Heads of Departments and technical teams, led by Dr. Chopada. The session showcased practical AI platforms and offered departments an opportunity to explore implementation for patient care, medical training and hospital management.
The upcoming Centre of Excellence is expected to enhance diagnosis accuracy, reduce treatment time and support cost-effective care, especially in oncology, neurology, cardiology and emergency services. AI-enabled triaging will help shorten waiting periods and enable swift prioritisation of critical cases.
Planned as a global training and skill development hub, the Centre will offer internationally benchmarked certification programmes for doctors, nurses, technicians and researchers. Claidroid Technologies has pledged support for the institute’s digital transformation and AI adoption.
Aligned with India’s Digital Health and Digital Jammu vision, the initiative aims to position Jammu as a hub for medical AI innovation. The Centre will ensure ethical, secure and governed AI use, with strong focus on data privacy, safety and regulatory compliance. International partnerships will help expand AI-enabled healthcare to tier-3 towns and remote regions through telemedicine and virtual diagnostics.
“This Global Centre will transform healthcare delivery by focusing on predictive, preventive and precision-driven care. It will benefit patients, clinicians and the wider healthcare ecosystem in India and beyond,” said Prof. (Dr.) Shakti Kumar Gupta.
