Flights were temporarily suspended at Dubai International Airport on Monday following a drone-related incident near the facility, authorities said, as heightened tensions linked to the ongoing regional conflict continue to affect security conditions.
The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority said the suspension was implemented as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of passengers and airport staff.
In a statement posted on X, the Dubai Media Office said the authority had ordered a temporary halt to flight operations while the situation was being assessed.
“Dubai Civil Aviation Authority announces the temporary suspension of flights at Dubai International Airport as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all passengers and staff. Travellers are advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding their flights,” the statement said, adding that further updates would be shared through official channels.
Authorities also reported that a fire broke out after a drone struck in the vicinity of the airport. Emergency teams responded promptly and officials said the incident caused minimal damage.
“Authorities are currently responding to a fire resulting from a drone-related incident in the vicinity of Dubai International Airport. All necessary measures are being taken to ensure everyone’s safety,” the Dubai Media Office said.
The incident comes amid rising tensions in the region linked to the ongoing conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran, which has led to disruptions and heightened security measures at several locations across the Middle East.
