JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Tuesday said that an amount of ₹289.39 crore has been released during the current financial year 2025–26 under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) for urgent flood restoration works across Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that, in addition, ₹100 crore — ₹5 crore for each district — has been released under the UT Capex Budget 2025–26 of the Department of Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction (DMRRR) under the activity “Flood Relief Measures”.
The Deputy Chief Minister was replying to a question raised by legislator Rajiv Jasrotia in the Legislative Assembly on behalf of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Choudhary informed the House that no funds have been released so far by the Government of India for flood restoration works during the current financial year.
However, he said that based on the report of the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT), the Government of India under the Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) has allocated ₹1,431 crore to Jammu and Kashmir for flood restoration works.
The Deputy Chief Minister further informed that the Jal Shakti Department has received funds for ongoing flood management projects under the Flood Management and Border Area Programme (FMBAP) during 2025–26. These include allocations of ₹164.35 lakh for Flood Management Works JK-21, JK-22 and JK-23, and ₹6,041.25 lakh for the Comprehensive Flood Management of River Jhelum, Phase-II (Part-A).
