LEH: Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor (CEC), LAHDC Leh, Adv. Tashi Gyalson, today called on the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, and presented him with a copy of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, and Arkhangai Province of Mongolia.
The MoU, signed by CEC Tashi Gyalson and Governor of Arkhangai Province Dashzeveg Baatarchuluun at Western Bayan-Ulaan Sum, Mongolia, in the presence of Executive Councillor Ghulam Mehdi, Executive Councillor Stanzin Chosphel, and Councillor Igoo Sonam Thardos, establishes a framework for cooperation in multiple sectors. These include cultural exchange, tourism promotion, trade, education, animal and sheep husbandry, agriculture and horticulture, astrophysics, and sports.
The Lt Governor lauded the initiative, noting that the agreement would further strengthen the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual bonds between Ladakh and Mongolia. He said the collaboration reflects the shared Buddhist heritage and will promote people-to-people exchanges that reinforce peace and mutual understanding.
Highlighting the historical context, the Lt Governor observed that the partnership honours the enduring legacy of His Eminence Kushok Bakula Rinpoche, who, as India’s Ambassador to Mongolia, played a pivotal role in building the foundation of India–Mongolia relations based on shared spiritual and cultural values.
The Lt Governor added that such initiatives reaffirm Ladakh’s commitment to international cooperation and sustainable development. “This MoU not only enhances bilateral relations but also celebrates our common heritage, promoting harmony and prosperity for both regions,” he said.
