KARGIL: Reaffirming the Union Territory Administration’s resolve towards inclusive and people-centric governance, the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, Kavinder Gupta, today said that the government is committed to bridging development gaps and addressing the genuine concerns of people in a transparent and time-bound manner.
During the day, several delegations from across Kargil called on the Lt Governor at Raj Niwas to submit their demands and suggestions on various developmental issues. Deputy Commissioner/CEO LAHDC Kargil, Rakesh Kumar, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Shree Raam R, were also present during the interactions.
A delegation led by Chief Executive Councillor Dr. Mohd Jaffer Akhoon, along with Executive Councillor Aga Mujtaba Mosavi and representatives from the Traspone region, sought the establishment of a Tehsil headquarters in Traspone and the upgradation of the Primary Health Centre into a Community Health Centre (CHC).
Member of Parliament from Ladakh, Mohmad Hanifa Jan, met the Lt Governor and demanded a private aircraft facility for winter travel in Kargil, expansion of the district hospital from 100 to 200 beds, and the creation of a multi-specialty hospital wing on the lines of AIIMS and PGI.
The Chairman of the Hajj Committee, Mohammad Ali Majaz, urged the establishment of a Passport Seva Kendra in Kargil. Meanwhile, delegations of job aspirants, contractual employees (including cooks and helpers), and medical staff working at SKIMS also placed their demands regarding employment and transfers.
Listening patiently, the Lt Governor assured that the UT Administration will ensure speedy redressal of these issues through a consultative and coordinated approach.
Emphasizing equitable growth as a core priority, the Lt Governor stated:
“Our Administration is here to serve the people with sincerity, accountability, and transparency. Development must reach the last person in the queue, and every citizen of Ladakh should feel empowered and included in the growth journey.”
