REASI: Government Degree College Katra, in collaboration with its NSS Unit and Red Ribbon Club and NCORD, organised a Cleanliness drive to mark Gandhi Jayanti and acquaint students about the ideals of cleanliness, discipline and community service advocated by Mahatma Gandhi.
During the programme, students and volunteers actively participated in cleaning the College premises and surrounding areas.
The volunteers enthusiastically carried out Shramdaan, collecting waste and ensuring proper disposal of litter. The also highlighted the importance of individual responsibility in keeping public spaces clean and contributing towards a healthier and more sustainable environment.
Speaking on the occasion, the College Principal Dr. Rajni Bhagat appreciated the efforts of the NSS volunteers, Red Ribbon Club and NCORD members. She emphasised that cleanliness is not merely a one-day activity but a collective responsibility that should become an integral part of everyday life. She encouraged students to carry the message of cleanliness beyond the college campus and inspire others in their communities.
The programme also served as an opportunity to recall Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of a clean and healthy India and his belief that cleanliness and civic responsibility are essential components of nation-building.
The active participation of students reflected their commitment towards cleanliness, social responsibility and community welfare. The programme concluded with a renewed pledge by the participants to maintain cleanliness and motivate others to contribute towards a cleaner and healthier society.
All the faculty members including Dr Usha, Prof. Shikha Bhasin, Dr Harmeet Kour, Prof. Younus and Prof Ajay were present during the event.
