BUDGAM: The Additional Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Vivek Agarwal, chaired a meeting at the District Headquarters to review and finalize the selection of beneficiaries under various components of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) for the year 2026-27.
The meeting was convened by the Office of the Assistant Director Fisheries, Budgam, to deliberate upon the applications received for establishment of fisheries-related units under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
It was informed in the meeting that 20 applications were received by the Office of the Assistant Director Fisheries, Budgam, within the stipulated timeline. Following scrutiny and assessment as per the prescribed guidelines, 06 applications were approved through the draw of lots method to ensure a transparent and fair selection process.
The approved cases pertain to various components of PMMSY, including Fish Value Added Enterprises, Construction of Fish Kiosk, Three-Wheeler with Ice Box for Fish Vending under DAJGUA, and Motorcycle with Ice Box under DAJGUA.
The Department of Fisheries is providing financial assistance under PMMSY to promote entrepreneurship, enhance fish production and marketing, generate employment, and strengthen the fisheries sector in the district.
The ADDC emphasized transparency, fairness and strict adherence to the prescribed scheme guidelines during the beneficiary selection process. He directed the concerned officers to ensure timely processing of cases and extend necessary handholding and technical guidance to the selected beneficiaries for successful implementation of their projects.
He further stressed the need to encourage unemployed youth and aspiring entrepreneurs to take advantage of government schemes aimed at promoting self-employment and sustainable livelihood opportunities in the fisheries sector.
The meeting was attended by PO ICDS, JD Planning, SE Hydraulics Circle Budgam, CAO Budgam, representative from KVK, concerned district officers and officials of the Fisheries Department.
