KUPWARA: Central Integrated Pest Management Centre (Jammu & Srinagar), in collaboration with the Directorate of Horticulture Kashmir, conducted a Special Joint Survey on Apple Leaf Blotch Miner, at several villages of blocks Kralgund, Langate, Handwara, Drugmulla, Sogam of Kupwara district.
The survey was aimed to check and verify level of infestation of the harmful pest in those areas, and also to advise proper IPM management practices to curb the level of infestation of the pest.
The survey was conducted by Dr. Vageesh Pandey, DD (E), who provided valuable insights to reduce infestation level of this pest. Farmers were acknowledged about Yellow Sticky Traps, Pheromone Traps, Orchard Sanitation, Proper Shade Fencing and also about accurate timing of chemical application to curb the pest infection.
The survey was attended by Dr. Khurshid Habib Buda, HDO, Kralgund, who shared useful knowledge about pest infestations in that region. Dr. Haroon Rashid Hakla, APPO (PP) also told farmers about using of only CIBRC approved pesticides.
Sudhanshu Mishra, APPO (WS) and Abir Shankhari, APPO (WS) also noted several problems faced by farmers and provided important inputs to farmers to solve the problem.
The main focus of whole survey was to identify problems faced by farmers in those villages and to address those problems as best as possible as per the government advisories.
Farmers were also very much satisfied with the approach method of solving their issues.
