SRINAGAR: The 80th Independence Day of the Nation was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT), Srinagar Bench, today.
The main function commenced with the unfurling of the National Flag by the Head of Department and Member (Judicial), Central Administrative Tribunal, Srinagar Bench, M.S. Latief.
The hoisting of the Tricolour was followed by the rendition of the National Anthem, filling the atmosphere with a deep sense of patriotism and national pride.
On the occasion, the Member (Judicial) also took the salute of the ceremonial march-past presented by the contingents of the Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The disciplined march-past and ceremonial proceedings reflected the commitment, dedication and spirit of service of the personnel towards the Nation.
Addressing the gathering, M.S. Latief conveyed his warm greetings and best wishes to all on the auspicious occasion of the 80th Independence Day. He emphasized that Independence Day is not merely a celebration but also an occasion to remember the immense sacrifices made by the freedom fighters and martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom, unity and dignity of the country.
The Member paid rich tributes to the brave freedom fighters and martyrs of the Nation, whose supreme sacrifices enabled the present generation to live in a free and sovereign country. He recalled that countless men and women made unparalleled sacrifices during the freedom struggle and endured immense hardships so that future generations could live with liberty, dignity and democratic rights.
He underscored the importance of preserving the values for which the Nation’s freedom was achieved, including unity, integrity, sovereignty, fraternity, constitutional values and mutual respect. He called upon everyone to discharge their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication and contribute towards strengthening the foundations of a peaceful, progressive and prosperous India.
The Member further stressed that the freedom enjoyed by the present generation carries with it a responsibility to safeguard the unity and integrity of the country and to uphold the principles enshrined in the Constitution of India. He emphasized that every citizen has an important role in strengthening national unity, promoting harmony and ensuring that the Nation continues to progress on the path of development and justice.
The celebration at the Central Administrative Tribunal, was marked by a strong sense of patriotism, national pride and commitment to the ideals of the Constitution. The gathering also reaffirmed the collective resolve to contribute towards the peace, prosperity and development of the country.
The function concluded with renewed commitment to uphold the sovereignty, unity and integrity of India and to remember with gratitude the valour and sacrifices of those who secured the Nation’s freedom.
