JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly witnessed brief disruptions on Tuesday after MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed Ahmad raised the issue of remarks made by BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa, who had allegedly claimed that Kashmiris had occupied land belonging to the Jammu Development Authority (JDA).
As soon as the House assembled, Khursheed stood up and sought to draw the attention of the Chair towards Randhawa’s statement. The Speaker, however, asked him to resume his seat and allow obituary references for two deceased former lawmakers to be taken up first.
After the obituary reference concluded, Khursheed again rose and waved a placard reading “Khasra No. 211,” apparently taking a dig at Randhawa. The BJP legislator had recently received a show-cause notice from the JDA over alleged encroachment on land falling under Khasra No. 211 in Chak Ganeshu village of Mandal tehsil in Jammu.
The Speaker directed Khursheed not to disrupt Question Hour and urged members to allow the House to function smoothly.
